About this tour
Mount Apo at 2,954 meters is the highest mountain in the Philippines and one of the great trekking challenges in Southeast Asia. The 3-day via Lake Venado route starts in Kidapawan (North Cotabato), climbs through mossy forest and pitcher plant bogs, past the volcanic crater and across a moonscape of ash and sulfur, to a summit that gives views across all of Mindanao on a clear day.
The trek is physically demanding β 10β14 hours of hiking per day on steep terrain at altitude. But the landscape is extraordinary: Philippine eagles fly overhead, endemic pitcher plants (Nepenthes) line the trail, and the sunrise from the summit is among the Philippines' most celebrated. A mandatory guide and porter system operates at all trailheads.
