If the coast guard suspends trips, do not pressure boatmen to sail. Rebook — most operators waive fees for weather cancellations. Keep one buffer day before flights.

Water & health

Drink bottled or filtered water only. Bring rehydration salts. A basic first-aid kit (antiseptic, plasters, anti-diarrhoea, motion-sickness tablets) covers most island mishaps.

Cash on islands

ATMs run dry on small islands (El Nido, Siquijor, Camiguin). Withdraw enough cash on the mainland. Many homestays and tricycles are cash-only.
