Zambales is a coastal province facing the South China Sea -- home to Subic Bay's diving and watersports, the volcanic-sand coves of San Antonio (Anawangin, Nagsasa) and Potipot Island at San Felipe. The Pinatubo lahar fields from the 1991 eruption are still visible on mountain slopes. A 3-hour drive from Manila on the SCTEX tollway.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
