San Felipe in Zambales is a quieter coastal town north of Subic Bay -- a base for accessing Potipot Island, a small white-sand island reachable by bangka in 10 minutes. Good for budget beach weekenders avoiding the San Antonio crowds. The beach at San Felipe town itself is long and uncrowded.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
