Mayon Volcano in Albay is the Philippines' most perfect volcano — an almost geometrically perfect cone rising 2,462 meters, visible from every direction. The best way to see it close-up is on an ATV (quad bike) across its lower lava fields. You drive through hardened lava flows from past eruptions, past buried church ruins (Cagsawa Ruins, from the 1814 eruption that killed 1,200 people), and out to a lahar zone where the volcano still rumbles.
The ATV ride takes 1.5–2 hours. No driving experience needed — guides teach you on the flat. The scenery is unlike anything else in the Philippines: the perfect cone, the lava desert, the ruins emerging from volcanic rock. Note: Mayon is active. Tours operate at Alert Level 0 only.
