About this tour
Clark Freeport Zone was the US Air Force's largest overseas base until the 1991 Pinatubo eruption forced evacuation. Today the area blends American colonial architecture, volcano-buried ruins and modern casinos in an unusual heritage landscape.
The tour includes the Air Force City Museum (vintage US military aircraft including a B-52), the famous Pinatubo-buried buildings (homes, hangars and facilities buried up to the roofline in lahar — the best remaining evidence of the 1991 disaster), and a drive through the former base to see the extraordinary scale of the American military presence. Optional: Fontana Water Park or a day trip to the Mt. Pinatubo crater lake.
