General Luna — GL to everyone who's been here longer than a day — is the undisputed hub of Siargao tourism. The main road and Tourism Road form the backbone of the town, lined with surf shops, warungs, and guesthouses that range from PHP 500 dormitories to boutique rooms topping PHP 4,000 a night. Everything on the island eventually circles back here: your tricycle driver, your island-hopping boat, your post-surf mango shake.
Things to do in General Luna
Eat at Harana
This Siargao institution serves Filipino-Mediterranean fusion on a breezy open-air deck — try the kare-kare pizza and order early because they sell out.
Breakfast at Mama's Grill
A no-frills roadside spot beloved for PHP 120 tapsilog and the freshest pan de sal on the island; arrive before 8 AM for the full spread.
Surf lesson at a local school
Beginner-friendly breaks near GL (not Cloud 9) make first lessons safe and fun — schools charge PHP 800–1,200 including board and 2-hour instruction.
Sunday market
Every Sunday morning on the main road, vendors sell dried mango, fresh coconuts, handmade jewelry, and cheap board shorts; great for snacks and souvenirs.
Island-hopping from GL port
Day trips to Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam Island depart from GL port; boats fit 8–10 people and cost PHP 2,500–3,500 total, split among the group.
Night at Olo's Bar or Bravo Siargao
Olo's is the classic open-air beach bar for sundowners and live acoustic sets; Bravo cranks up later with DJs and stays loud until 2 AM.
