Bantayan
Powder-white sand and slow island days off northern Cebu · Cebu
Off the northwest tip of Cebu, Bantayan Island is where days blur into one long sunlit exhale. The sand is genuinely powder-white and the shallow water glows postcard-turquoise. No high-rise resorts, no traffic, no rush - just bicycles on sandy lanes, fishing boats offshore, roadside grills, and locals who wave hello. A long-time open secret among Filipinos (who flock here every Holy Week), it stays refreshingly mellow the rest of the year.

Frequently asked questions — Bantayan
How many days should I spend on Bantayan?
Two to three nights: a full beach day, an island-hopping day trip, and time to bike around and unwind.
Do I need to book ferries in advance?
For most of the year you can buy at Hagnaya on the day (arrive early). During Holy Week and major holidays, ferries and buses fill fast - book ahead and take earlier crossings.
Is there an ATM, and can I pay by card?
A few ATMs in Santa Fe and Bantayan town can run dry on weekends and holidays. Treat it as a cash island; withdraw in Cebu City and bring small bills. Cards only at some larger resorts.
Is it good for families and non-swimmers?
Yes - the water off Santa Fe, Sugar Beach and Kota Beach is shallow and gentle with long low-tide sandbars, relaxed and safe for kids. Mind the strong sun.
