Santa Ana in Cagayan is the jump-off for Palaui Island -- one of the last unspoiled coastal islands in the Philippines. The white beach and Spanish-era Cape Engano Lighthouse are the highlights, accessible only by bangka. Combine with the surfing at Anguib Beach in barangay Mabnang. Fly to Tuguegarao then bus south.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
