San Pablo City in Laguna is the 'City of Seven Lakes' -- seven volcanic crater lakes scattered around the city, most accessible by tricycle or bangka. Lake Sampaloc is the largest and most visited; the others are quieter. San Pablo also produces some of the best pili nuts in Luzon and serves as a jumping-off point for Lucban in Quezon.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
