Ilocos Norte is the northernmost province of mainland Luzon -- home to the Paoay Church (UNESCO), the Bangui Wind Farm, the Laoag sand dunes and Pagudpud's white beaches. The province is also the political stronghold of the Marcos family; the Marcos Museum and Mausoleum is in Batac. Fly to Laoag Airport from Manila in under an hour.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
