Burgos in Ilocos Norte is the site of the Bangui Wind Farm -- a row of white turbines standing in the sea along a black sand and rock shore, one of the most photogenic landscapes in northern Luzon. Worth a detour on the way from Pagudpud back to Laoag. Combine with Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, just 40 minutes south.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
