Bontoc is the capital of Mountain Province and the jump-off point for Sagada, Maligcong rice terraces and trips to indigenous Bontoc villages. The Bontoc Museum gives excellent cultural context before exploring the region. A quieter, more authentic alternative to Sagada for travellers who want less company.
Getting there
Bus from Manila (Victory Liner / Genesis) to Baguio, ~5-6 hrs. For Sagada, jeepney or van from Baguio.
Best time to visit
November to April — cool, dry weather perfect for trekking.
