Is Romblon (the marble island) doable for a quiet beach week?

Yes, perfect choice if you want quiet. Most people head to Carabao or Tablas, but Romblon Island itself has Bonbon Beach with its famous sandbar out to Bang-og islet at low tide, plus you can watch the marble carvers in town. It's sleepy in the best way. Just plan around the weather: roughly June-Nov the sea gets rough and the Batangas/Roxas (Mindoro) ferries do get suspended.
It's a journey but that's why it's empty. I flew Manila to Tugdan (Tablas) on a small Cebgo prop, then a van and a short bangka over to Romblon town. Tablas also has Aglicay and Mahabang Baybay beaches. Budget around PHP 1,500-2,000/day all in. Check /best-time-to-visit before booking, the dry-season window (Dec-May) is much safer for the boats.
