Cash or card in the Philippines? Where do I actually need pesos?
Trying to figure out how much cash to carry vs how often I can tap a card.

Cash is king outside malls and chain hotels. Cards work in big Cebu/Manila malls, but trikes, sari-sari stores, public ferries, carinderias and most El Nido/Siargao small shops are cash only. Carry PHP 3,000-5,000 in small notes (20/50/100) for daily stuff and break 1,000 bills at 7-Eleven. Try /expenses to map a daily cash plan.
Agree on cash. One tip: island towns like Coron run out of working ATMs constantly, so pull cash in Manila/Cebu before you fly out. I got stranded card-only in El Nido for a day and it was painful.
