Filipinos are warm and very forgiving of foreigners, but a few things go a long way: a smile and 'po'/'opo' for politeness, remove shoes when entering homes, and never raise your voice in a dispute (saving face matters). Tipping isn't mandatory, PHP 20-50 or rounding up is appreciated; nicer restaurants add a 10% service charge. Dress modestly in churches, the country is largely Catholic.
