Manila Activity Prices, Indexed: 53 Bookable Trips and the PHP 300 Entry Point

For travellers with a day or two in Manila deciding what is worth booking in the city and what is really an out-of-town excursion. Prices are PHP per person from our own bookable inventory. Last checked 8 August 2026.

Caveats as usual. These are bookable rates carrying operator margin; walking into Intramuros and hiring a guide on the spot costs less. Museum and attraction tickets bought directly at the gate are cheaper than packaged passes. And traffic makes Manila durations less reliable than anywhere else in the country - a stated 8-hour trip can run longer on a weekday.

Twenty-nine trips at one price is the hardest cluster we have measured

Across every destination we have indexed, PHP 1,850 keeps appearing as the standard full-day rate: 16 of 53 in El Nido, 16 of 49 in Boracay, 13 of 85 in Cebu, 11 of 41 in Coron. Manila takes it furthest - 29 of 53, which is 55 percent of the entire inventory sitting on one number.

The reason is that a Manila day tour is a van, a driver, a guide and a lunch, and those inputs cost the same regardless of whether the van points south to Tagaytay or east to Rizal. When the product is essentially transport, price competition flattens completely. Paying above PHP 1,850 for a shared day trip out of Manila buys you a smaller group, not a different destination.

The city itself is the cheap part

Six products come in under PHP 1,000, and all six are genuinely in Manila: a budget heritage walk at PHP 300, a bay sunset cruise at PHP 400, the Intramuros heritage walking tour at PHP 500, the Mind Museum at PHP 565, Manila Ocean Park at PHP 730 and a five-hour food tour at PHP 800.

That is a full, varied two days in the city for under PHP 3,000 in activities. It is also the answer to the most common complaint about Manila - that there is nothing to do - which usually means the traveller looked at a list of PHP 1,850 day tours and did not notice that most of them leave the city.

What the PHP 1,850 tours actually are

Read the titles rather than the prices and the pattern is clear: Tagaytay and Taal Volcano viewpoints, Pagsanjan, Rizal province waterfalls, Corregidor. These are day trips from Manila, not tours of Manila.

That distinction matters for planning. If you have one day in the capital and you book a PHP 1,850 trip, you will spend most of it in a van on the South Luzon Expressway and see Manila mainly through a window. If seeing the city is the point, the PHP 300 to 800 tier is the correct shelf.

The expensive tier is multi-day travel in disguise

Four products run PHP 7,841 to 16,059: Villa Escudero, a two-day Buscalan trip to Apo Whang-Od's tattoo village, a three-day Hundred Islands and Bolinao private tour, and a three-day Banaue Rice Terraces hike.

None of these is a Manila activity. They are multi-day trips to northern Luzon that happen to depart from Manila, and pricing them against a city walking tour is meaningless. Banaue at PHP 16,059 for three days including transport and guiding is a different purchase entirely - closer to booking a small-group tour of the Cordilleras than to booking a thing to do in the capital.

What most guides get wrong about Manila

The standard advice is to skip Manila, or give it half a day before flying onward. Our index suggests the advice is really about the day-tour market rather than the city: when 29 of 53 bookable products drive you somewhere else, it is easy to conclude there is nothing here.

The city products tell a different story. Intramuros has two separate tours at PHP 500 and PHP 1,200, there is a dedicated food tour, two museums aimed at families and a bay cruise - and the National Historical Commission maintains the Intramuros sites, so the history on offer is documented rather than invented for tourists.

The second error is quoting Manila durations as if they were fixed. Forty-four of 53 trips are logged as full day, but a Tagaytay round trip in weekday traffic and the same trip on a Sunday morning are different products sold at the same price. Any itinerary that stacks two Manila-based day trips back to back is assuming a road network that does not behave that way.
