Short answer: Of 53 bookable El Nido trips, 16 price at exactly PHP 1,850 - that is the market rate for a shared lettered island-hopping tour with lunch. The median across the whole set is PHP 2,500. Above PHP 15,000 you are buying a private boat, not a different bay, and the top of the range reaches PHP 26,753 for a multi-day expedition to Coron.

How we built this index

We exported every trip in the PANA.PH inventory whose title or location names El Nido, with price, duration and category, and sorted by price. That is 53 trips across multiple operators - the complete set on 8 August 2026, not a sample. Quartiles from that export: 25th percentile PHP 1,850, median PHP 2,500, 75th percentile PHP 6,500, range PHP 1,379 to 26,753.

The duration field is unusually uniform here: 47 of 53 trips are logged as full day, with one at 7 hours, one at 6 hours, one two-day and three three-day. That tells you something structural about El Nido - almost everything is a boat day in Bacuit Bay, and the exceptions are either kayak trips or expeditions that leave the bay entirely.

Same caveats as our other price indexes: these are bookable rates including operator margin, so beach-front cash prices in town can run lower; the figures move with fuel and season; and they exclude the separately collected Bacuit Bay environmental fee, which is paid locally rather than through us.

Sixteen trips at one price is the clearest signal in the data

Nothing else in our Philippines inventory clusters as hard as this. Sixteen of 53 El Nido trips - roughly one in three - price at exactly PHP 1,850. When that many independent operators land on an identical number, it is because they are all selling the same standardised product: a shared banca, a fixed lettered route, lunch on a beach, and the same fuel and permit costs.

The practical read is simple. At PHP 1,850 you are paying the market rate and the operator has almost no room to differentiate on cost - so choose on boat size, group cap and departure time instead. Being quoted PHP 2,500 for a description that matches the standard tour means you are paying a booking margin, not buying a better day.

The lettered tours are routes, not quality tiers

Tour A, B, C and D are not good-better-best. They are four different circuits around Bacuit Bay, and our index shows them priced almost identically - the PHP 1,850 cluster contains examples of several of them.

What actually separates your day is which lagoons a route reaches and how the boats stack up at each stop. Tour A carries the Big and Small Lagoon, which is why it is the one every itinerary names and the one that fills first. The cheapest entries in the whole index, at PHP 1,379 to 1,565, are kayak-led and Tour B variants - genuinely cheaper because they are shorter or carry fewer stops, not because they are inferior.

The PHP 6,500 tier and what it really is

Seven trips sit at exactly PHP 6,500 - the second-hardest cluster in the data after PHP 1,850. This is the small-group and premium-shared tier: fewer passengers per boat, better lunch, sometimes a photographer or a guaranteed early departure to reach Big Lagoon before the crowd.

Whether that is worth roughly three and a half times the standard rate depends entirely on one thing: how much the queue at Big Lagoon bothers you. If you are travelling in peak season and the lagoon photograph is the reason you came, an early premium departure buys you the shot. If you are relaxed about sharing, the PHP 1,850 boat visits the same water.

Expeditions to Coron are a different product entirely

The top of the index - PHP 14,500 to 26,753 - is dominated by multi-day expeditions between El Nido and Coron rather than day trips. Three three-day trips and one two-day trip sit here, and they are the only items in the whole export that are not a single boat day.

These are worth understanding as transport plus accommodation, not as an expensive tour. You are crossing to Coron with beach camping en route, which replaces both a ferry ticket and two nights of lodging. Compared like that, PHP 14,500 for a three-day castaway expedition reads very differently from PHP 14,500 for a day out.

What most guides get wrong about El Nido

The usual claim is that El Nido is expensive and Coron is the budget alternative. Our data does not support that as stated. El Nido's median bookable trip is PHP 2,500; the equivalent Coron figure from the same export is PHP 3,500. On tours specifically, El Nido is the cheaper of the two - and both share the identical PHP 1,850 entry point.

Where El Nido genuinely does get expensive is everything around the boat: the town is busier, rooms cost more in season, and the environmental fee is collected separately. Guides conflate the destination's overall cost with its tour prices, and then travellers arrive expecting the boat day to be the expensive part when it is the most standardised, most competitive purchase they will make.

The second error is treating the lettered tours as a progression to work through. Four days of A, B, C and D is four very similar boat days. Two lettered tours plus a land day, or a kayak trip, gives a better week for less money.

Frequently asked questions

How much is island hopping in El Nido?

PHP 1,850 for the standard shared lettered tour with lunch - 16 of our 53 trips price at exactly that, checked 8 August 2026.

Which El Nido tour is the best one?

Tour A carries the Big and Small Lagoon and is the most requested. Our index prices it in the same PHP 1,850 band as the others, so it is a route choice rather than a quality upgrade.

Is a private El Nido tour worth it?

Private charters run PHP 15,000 to 19,321 in our data. They buy you a boat to yourselves and control over timing, not access to different islands.

What is the cheapest El Nido tour?

PHP 1,379 for a Big Lagoon kayaking and island trip. The two next-cheapest, at PHP 1,400 and 1,565, are Tour B variants running 6-7 hours.

Can I travel from El Nido to Coron by tour boat?

Yes. Multi-day expeditions cross between the two and price from PHP 14,500 to 26,753, replacing a ferry ticket and two or three nights of accommodation.
