Bohol Tour Prices, Indexed: What 38 Bookable Trips Cost Across Land and Sea

Caveats. These are bookable rates including margin; hiring a habal-habal or van locally for the countryside loop costs less. Tarsier sanctuary and Chocolate Hills viewpoint entrance fees are usually collected separately on site. And the Loboc firefly cruise is weather- and season-dependent in a way a fixed price does not convey.

The lowest provincial median we have measured

At PHP 2,117, Bohol's median undercuts Cebu (PHP 3,200), Coron (PHP 3,500) and El Nido (PHP 2,500). Only Boracay, at PHP 1,850, is lower - and Boracay is a single small island rather than a province with two distinct halves.

The reason is distance, or the lack of it. Bohol's headline sights sit within about 90 minutes of each other, so a countryside tour does not need to fund four hours of driving the way a Cebu south-coast day does. Short transport is the single biggest lever on tour price in the Philippines, and Bohol has the shortest of any province we cover.

PHP 1,200 for the two things everyone comes for

The Chocolate Hills and tarsier day tour is PHP 1,200 for eight hours. That is remarkable value measured against anything comparable: it is less than a single Boracay parasailing slot and roughly a third of the median Coron boat day, and it covers the province's two internationally known attractions in one trip.

A word on the tarsiers, because price is not the only consideration. They are nocturnal, highly stress-sensitive primates, and the difference between a sanctuary operating under DENR wildlife-management rules and a roadside enclosure is real. Flash photography and handling are prohibited at the proper sanctuaries for good reason. Choosing on price alone is how travellers end up at the wrong kind of facility.

Balicasag is the cheapest world-class dive site in the index

Panglao island hopping to Balicasag and Virgin Island starts at PHP 1,383, and Balicasag is a genuine marine sanctuary with a wall dive and resident turtles. Nowhere else in our inventory does an internationally rated dive and snorkel site sit inside a sub-PHP 1,400 product.

One practical constraint the price does not show: Balicasag operates a daily visitor cap and requires registered boats, so the cheap tours can fill early in peak season. This is one of the few cases where booking ahead is about access rather than convenience.

The two-halves problem in the duration data

Thirty-five of 38 trips are logged as full day, with one two-hour firefly cruise, one eight-hour countryside tour and one two-day package. That uniformity hides the actual planning constraint, which is that Bohol's inland and coastal attractions are separate days.

The countryside loop - hills, tarsiers, Loboc River, the man-made forest - is a land day from Panglao or Tagbilaran. Balicasag and Pamilacan are boat days from Alona. You cannot meaningfully combine them, and the PHP 9,986 Cebu-to-Bohol one-day trip in our index is the clearest illustration: it exists, it is the second most expensive single-day product here, and it compresses a comfortable three-day province into a ferry-bound sprint.

Where the PHP 6,500 tier sits in a cheap province

Five trips price at exactly PHP 6,500 - the same second-tier number that recurs in El Nido and Coron - and in Bohol they are private waterfall hopping, a premium Chocolate Hills and river run, and a private cave-pool and sardine snorkel day.

The arithmetic is starker here than anywhere else we index. PHP 6,500 is more than five times the PHP 1,200 countryside tour that covers the province two headline sights. In El Nido the same tier is roughly three and a half times the standard day, because the standard day itself costs more. So while the absolute price is identical across destinations, the premium you are paying relative to the alternative is far higher in Bohol.

That does not make it bad value - a private vehicle for a family, or a waterfall circuit no shared tour runs, can justify it. But in a province where the base product is unusually cheap, the upgrade multiple deserves more scrutiny than the headline number suggests.

What most guides get wrong about Bohol

The recurring framing is that Bohol is a day trip from Cebu. Our data prices that option at PHP 9,986 - roughly eight times the PHP 1,200 countryside tour you could do at leisure from a Panglao base. The day-trip framing is the expensive way to see the province badly.

The second error is treating Bohol and Panglao as one destination. Panglao is a separate island connected by bridge, it is where the beaches and dive shops are, and 27 of our trips reference it specifically. Guides that put Alona Beach and the Chocolate Hills in the same afternoon are describing a drive that does not fit.

Third, the Chocolate Hills are seasonal in appearance. They turn brown - which is what gives them the name - in the dry months, and are green for much of the rest of the year. Photographs in guides are almost always taken at the brown peak, and travellers arriving in a green month regularly feel misled by material that never mentioned the timing.
