Masungi Georeserve Guided Trek
About this tour
Masungi Georeserve is arguably the most spectacular eco-attraction within reach of Metro Manila. Nestled in the Baras rainforest within the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape in Rizal province, the georeserve protects one of the most dramatic karst rock formations in Luzon — a jagged limestone ridge draped in cloud forest, spider-web rope bridges, and swaying bamboo walkways.
The Discovery Trail — the main trail open to the public — winds through a 2.5 km circuit of engineered eco-infrastructure that blends seamlessly with the landscape. Highlights include Gubat sa Alapaap (Forest in the Clouds), a towering bamboo viewpoint platform; the Sapot (spider-web net hammock) suspended over a steep karst valley; Tatlong Bato, a cluster of dramatic limestone monoliths; and multiple rope bridges spanning jungle ravines. The trail is designed to make you feel the forest, not just walk through it — barefoot sections, canopy-level hammocks, and sheer vertical sections where you pull yourself up with ropes are all part of the choreography.
Masungi is a conservation success story. The georeserve team fought decades of illegal quarrying and deforestation to protect this corridor — your booking fee directly funds reforestation, ranger salaries, and legal advocacy. Slots are strictly limited (maximum 50 guests per day) and sell out weeks in advance. Book as early as possible. No children under 7. Closed Tuesdays for maintenance.
