Zamboanga del Norte is the northern province of the Zamboanga Peninsula -- home to Dapitan, where national hero Jose Rizal was exiled from 1892-1896, and Dipolog City, the main domestic airport entry point. The coast has several dive sites in Sindangan Bay and Panguil Bay. A manageable and historically significant part of Mindanao to explore.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
