Jolo is the capital of Sulu province in the Bangsamoro region -- a historically and culturally significant town that was once the seat of the powerful Sulu Sultanate. The Sulu Archipelago has some of the richest reefs in the Coral Triangle. Current DFA Level 3-4 advisories apply to most of Sulu and Basilan; check all travel warnings before planning any visit.

Fly MNL-CGY then bus/van, or take a ferry from Cebu or Davao.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season; avoid monsoon months.
