Clark Freeport Zone, the former US Clark Air Base in Pampanga, now functions as a tax-free economic zone with an international airport (CRK) handling budget flights to Coron, Cebu and abroad. The zone has factory outlets, international hotels and adventure activities (zip-line, paintball). Useful gateway that avoids Manila entirely.
Getting there
Fly MNL-LAO (Laoag) or take a 6-8 hr Victory Liner bus from Manila.
Best time to visit
November to April — dry season with pleasant temperatures.
