Bais City in Negros Oriental is one of the best places in the Philippines to see wild dolphins and whales in Tañon Strait -- the narrow body of water between Negros and Cebu. Dawn boat trips through Bais Bay often encounter hundreds of spinner dolphins. Combine with Manjuyod Sandbar, a 7 km white sandbar that appears at low tide -- the 'Maldives of the Philippines'.

Fly MNL-LGP (Legazpi) or overnight bus/train from Manila.
Best time to visit
March to May — whale shark season; November to April for hiking.
