Subic Bay Adventure Package — Zipline, ATV & Canopy Walk

Subic Bay Freeport is one of the Philippines' most unusual destinations — a former US Naval Base that has been transformed into an eco-tourism zone and special economic area, with a vast protected rainforest that covers most of the Subic Bay watershed. That forest is the playground for this full-day adventure package, combining three of the area's most popular activities into one action-filled itinerary.

The zipline launches from a tower above the treeline and carries you 800 metres over the jungle canopy at 60 kph, with Subic Bay glittering in the distance. The views at full speed — ocean on one side, the green hills of the former base on the other — are spectacular. The ATV trail follows jungle tracks through dense rainforest, crossing shallow rivers and navigating mud sections that guarantee at least one splash. The 30-minute ride covers enough terrain to feel genuinely exploratory rather than a brief loop.

The Canopy Walk offers a more serene alternative high in the trees: a series of suspension bridges and platforms at 20 metres elevation, where you are at eye level with hornbills and the forest stretches to the horizon. From up here the scale of the Subic watershed becomes clear — this is one of Luzon's most biodiverse forests and the Freeport's conservation status has allowed it to recover impressively since the US departure in 1992. The whole package makes Subic Bay a compelling one-day or overnight stop for travellers heading between Manila and the Bataan Peninsula.
