About this tour

Siargao has some of the most beautifully simple islands in the Philippines — white sand strips rising from shallow turquoise water, fringed by coconut palms, with no development whatsoever. Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam Island are the most famous, but this private sunset tour heads to less-visited islands to the south of the chain where you will find complete solitude as the light changes colour around you.

Departure is at 3:00 PM from General Luna pier — early enough to catch the afternoon light for swimming and snorkelling at the first two islands. The bangka stops first at a shallow-water sandbar where you can wade to the edge of the world in knee-deep water with the horizon 360 degrees around you. The second stop is a coconut-palm island with a small beach facing west — perfect for sitting in the shallows as the sun descends.

As the sun touches the horizon, the bangka anchors off a completely deserted beach for the evening. The crew sets up a driftwood bonfire on the sand, and the cook prepares a simple but perfect beach dinner: freshly grilled whole fish wrapped in banana leaf, garlic rice cooked in coconut milk, a prawn skewer appetiser, and fresh mangoes for dessert. Cold San Miguel is in the cooler. After dinner, the crew retreats to the boat, leaving the two of you alone beside the bonfire under a sky with zero light pollution — one of the densest star fields visible anywhere in the Philippines.

About the area

Siargao Island is in the Philippine Sea, 800 kilometres southeast of Manila. The island chain to its south and east includes dozens of uninhabited islands and sandbars accessible only by bangka. The absence of light pollution makes Siargao one of the Philippines' finest stargazing locations.

Frequently asked questions

Is the deserted beach accessible to other people?
The beach is on an uninhabited island accessible only by private bangka. No public access, no resort, no other guests — once the crew retreats to the boat, the beach is yours alone.
What type of fish is grilled?
Typically tanigue (wahoo), tanguingue, or lapu-lapu (grouper) depending on the morning's catch. The cook selects the freshest option available that day. Shellfish alternatives available on request.
What if the weather turns after departure?
The captain monitors conditions throughout the day and adjusts the route to sheltered islands if swells build. The bonfire location is always chosen for maximum wind protection.
Can we go swimming after dark?
Night swimming is welcome in the calm, shallow water adjacent to the beach. The crew provides waterproof torches if you want to explore below the surface.
