About this tour

The Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) is one of the Philippines' most important wildlife rehabilitation facilities, caring for animals confiscated from illegal wildlife trade. A visit here is both educational and emotionally moving — and directly supports conservation funding through your entrance fee.

Highlights include the rare Palawan bearcat (binturong), the critically endangered Palawan pangolin, the Philippine cockatoo (locally called "katala"), saltwater crocodiles, python enclosures, and a walk-through aviary where Philippine hornbills and other endemic birds fly freely overhead. Knowledgeable staff explain each animal's backstory and the ongoing efforts to breed and release threatened species back into the Palawan wilderness.

Adjacent to the rescue center, the Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden showcases over 130 native butterfly species fluttering through a mesh garden thick with flowering host plants. The combination visit makes for a complete half-morning of genuine eco-tourism — one of the most meaningful things you can do in Puerto Princesa beyond the underground river. Combined tickets are available at the gate or through this booking.
