About this tour

Poctoy White Beach in Torrijos municipality is Marinduque's finest beach — a 300-metre arc of fine white sand facing the Sibuyan Sea, backed by coconut palms and fronted by shallow, warm, crystal-clear water that is ideal for swimming and wading. What makes Poctoy special is not any single feature but the complete package: excellent sand quality, clean water, good snorkelling on the reef just off the beach, and an almost total absence of the crowds and commercialization that have diminished similar beaches elsewhere in the Philippines.

The beach is managed by the Torrijos local government, which maintains it cleanly and limits commercial development to a handful of modest beach huts and a small food stall. Nipa-palm umbrellas and bamboo loungers can be rented directly. The water is shallow for the first 50 metres — perfect for children and non-swimmers — before dropping to snorkelling depth where a modest but healthy coral garden begins. Parrotfish, butterflyfish, and occasional sea turtles have been reported by regular visitors.

The day trip from Boac takes about 40 minutes by tricycle or multicab through Marinduque's scenic interior — rice fields, mango orchards, and the volcanic Malindig Mountain visible in the distance. The drive itself is part of the experience: Marinduque's landscape is one of the most pastoral and undisturbed in Luzon. Pack a picnic or buy fresh seafood from the fishermen who land their boats on the beach each morning. Poctoy is the kind of beach that makes you question why you ever went to Boracay.
