Cebu Whale Shark Family Adventure
About this tour
Swimming alongside a whale shark — the ocean's largest fish, reaching 12 metres in length — is one of the most transformative wildlife experiences on earth. Oslob, on Cebu's southern coast, offers the world's most reliable whale shark encounters in calm, controlled conditions that are genuinely safe for families with young children.
The encounter takes place in shallow water (2-4 metres depth) from traditional outrigger boats just 50 metres offshore. Snorkels are provided and the water is so clear that even children who keep their heads above the surface can see the whale sharks moving below. The animals feed at the surface on krill provided by local fisherfolk — the same community-based arrangement that has sustained the encounter since 2011. Children aged 5+ can snorkel alongside; younger children can watch safely from the boat.
After the whale sharks, the tour continues to the spectacular Tumalog Falls — a 20-metre curtain waterfall in a jungle canyon where the family can swim in a natural pool. Lunch is a Cebuano seafood buffet at a local restaurant. The return trip passes through Cebu City for a brief stop at Magellan's Cross and the Basilica del Santo Nino — 10 minutes of history that children easily absorb after a day of wildlife adventure.

About the area
