About this tour

Caliraya Lake is one of the Philippines' best-kept wakeboarding secrets — a man-made reservoir at 600 metres altitude in the Lumban hills of Laguna, surrounded by pine and eucalyptus trees rather than palm trees, giving it an atmosphere more reminiscent of a Swiss alpine lake than a tropical Filipino destination. The lake's altitude keeps temperatures 5–8 degrees cooler than Manila even at midday, the water is glassy calm in the mornings, and the scenery from the water — pine-forested ridges reflecting in the flat lake surface — is genuinely beautiful.

The Caliraya Wakeboard Park operates both a cable system (ideal for beginners — a continuous loop cable pulls riders at constant speed without the waves of a boat) and boat-tow sessions for intermediate and advanced riders who want to practise tricks in the wake. The cable park has several features — ramps, rails, and kickers — for those who have progressed beyond basic riding. Kneeboarding (an easier entry point than wakeboarding, where you ride on your knees on a wide board) is also available and is a good stepping stone for absolute beginners.

The session starts with a thorough safety briefing and basic technique coaching for first-timers. Life jackets and helmets are provided. The Caliraya complex also has a function area, a small restaurant serving Filipino comfort food, and accommodation for those who want to extend the trip into a weekend getaway. The lake is 90 minutes from Makati, making it an ideal Saturday morning adventure — arrive at 7 AM for glassy water conditions before the wind picks up around midday. Caliraya is consistently ranked among the top wakeboard venues in the Philippines by the national community.
