Boracay Helmet Diving for Non-Swimmers
About this tour
Helmet diving is the perfect solution for anyone who desperately wants to experience the underwater world of Boracay but cannot swim or holds a fear of putting their face in the water. Unlike scuba diving, there is nothing to learn and no face mask involved — instead, a large pressurised helmet is placed over your head and shoulders, pumping fresh air down from a tube so you breathe completely normally. You then simply walk down a ladder from the boat into 3–5 metres of water and stand or walk on the sandy seabed while the ocean puts on a show around you.
The dive site used is a calm, sheltered bay on Boracay's inner coast where the marine environment has been carefully maintained since the 2018 island rehabilitation. Fish are accustomed to divers and will approach within arm's reach — you can hand-feed resident fish with provided pellets, which is an experience that brings even the most sceptical participants to childlike delight. The coral bommies surrounding the dive area host clownfish, parrotfish, surgeonfish, and occasional small reef sharks.
The entire experience runs about 90 minutes including briefing, gear fitting, and the approximately 20-minute underwater walk. You do not need to remove glasses or contact lenses as the helmet seals at shoulder level. Your guide accompanies you at every step. Photos and video taken by an underwater photographer are available to purchase afterwards. This is Boracay's most accessible underwater adventure.
