Naga City sits at the geographic and cultural heart of Bicol, straddling the Naga River in the lowlands of Camarines Sur. It is the region's commercial and academic hub, a city that does not feel like a tourist destination — and that is exactly the point. Come in September for the Peñafrancia Festival, the largest Marian devotion in Asia, or come any time of year for CamSur Watersports Complex, the premier cable wakeboarding park in Southeast Asia, which draws world-class riders and curious beginners alike.
Best time to visit
September for the Peñafrancia Festival (book accommodation 3–6 months ahead — the city fills completely). October to May for watersports and trekking, with dry weather and calm lake conditions.
