4 Days in Boracay: Beach, Activities and Nightlife

Boracay is the Philippines' most famous beach destination - a 7-kilometer stretch of powder-white sand that consistently ranks among the best beaches in the world. After a 6-month government closure and rehabilitation in 2018, the island came back cleaner, less chaotic, and better regulated. Four days gives you time to experience all its faces: the serene morning beach, the active water sports strip, the island-hopping boats, and the sunset cocktail scene that made Boracay famous in the first place.

Getting to Boracay

Fly to Caticlan Airport (also called Boracay Airport) - it is a 10-minute tricycle ride from the ferry port. Fly alternatively to Kalibo (more flights, cheaper) but add a 90-minute bus transfer. The ferry from Caticlan to Boracay takes 15 minutes (100 PHP). You then pay an environmental fee (150 PHP) and terminal fee (100 PHP) on arrival at Cagban Jetty.

Day 1: Arrive and White Beach Sunset

Check into your hotel on White Beach - the main 4-kilometer beach divided into Stations 1, 2, and 3. Station 1 (north) is quieter and more upscale. Station 2 (center) is the lively hub with restaurants, bars, and shops. Station 3 (south) is cheaper and more relaxed. Walk the beach path from north to south - about 4 kilometers of uninterrupted white sand and clear water. The sunset from any point on White Beach is extraordinary: the sky turns from orange to deep red to purple over the calm Sibuyan Sea. Have your first San Miguel at a beachside table and watch it happen.

Day 2: Kitesurfing at Bulabog and Island Hopping

Bulabog Beach on the east side of the island (10-minute walk from the beach path through the village) is the kitesurfing capital of Asia. November to May, the Habagat wind creates perfect conditions. Lessons from certified instructors start at 3,000 PHP for a 2-hour intro. Even if you do not kite, the beach is beautiful and the energy is infectious.

Afternoon: island-hopping boat tour. The standard tour (1,500 PHP/person or 5,000 PHP/boat) covers Crystal Cove Island (200 PHP extra entry, has two sea caves), Crocodile Island for snorkeling, and Tambisaan Beach on the east coast. Book at the beachfront stands or through your hotel.

Day 3: Water Sports and Sunset Sailing

White Beach's water sports operators offer: parasailing (1,800-2,500 PHP), helmet diving (no certification needed, 1,500 PHP), stand-up paddleboarding (400 PHP/hour), and banana boat rides (200 PHP/person). Spend the morning doing two or three activities. Afternoon: book a paraw sailing tour (700-1,000 PHP/person) for the iconic Boracay sunset. The traditional outrigger sailboats head out at 5pm and sail back as the sun drops - the combination of the white sail, the orange sky, and the clear water is the quintessential Boracay image.

Day 4: Puka Shell Beach and Departure

Puka Shell Beach is in the north of the island - less developed than White Beach, with coarser sand and more dramatic waves. Take a tricycle (150 PHP) or walk 30 minutes north through the forest. It is quieter, more natural, and the perfect final morning swim. Lunch at a local carenderia in the village (150-200 PHP for rice and two dishes), then take the ferry back to Caticlan for your flight.

Where to Eat and Drink

D'Talipapa Market near Station 2: buy fresh seafood from the wet market and have it cooked in the adjacent restaurants - the most authentic and affordable way to eat on Boracay. Real Coffee and Tea on the beach path has been serving breakfast burritos and fresh-roasted coffee since 1993. Boat Bar, which actually floats in the water, is the most fun sundowner spot on the island.
