South Cebu Day Trip (Oslob + Kawasan + Moalboal)
About this tour
If you only have one full day for south Cebu and you want to make it count, this is the tour. Three of the island's most extraordinary natural experiences — back to back, expertly sequenced so the timing works for each — and a van that handles all the driving while you recover between them. It is a long day (up at 2am, back by 7–8pm), but almost everyone who does it calls it the highlight of their Philippines trip.
Dawn: Oslob whale sharks. In the water with the world's largest fish before 6:30am — cool turquoise water, low-angle light, whale shark silhouettes against the sunbeams. Half an hour in the water, then a roadside breakfast while you relive it.
Morning: Kawasan canyoneering. The van rolls south to Alegria. Four to five hours of cliff jumps, rope rappels, natural water slides and swimming through limestone canyons, finishing at the three-tiered turquoise pools of Kawasan Falls. Lunch on the bamboo platforms at the falls while your legs remember what solid ground feels like.
Afternoon: Moalboal sardine run. A short drive north to Panagsama Beach. Slip off the dive shop jetty into the water and the sardine shoal engulfs you immediately — tens of millions of fish moving as one breathing, silver organism. Thirty minutes later you're on the beach with a cold drink, watching the sun lower over the Tañon Strait. The day is done.

About the area
This itinerary covers the southern arc of Cebu island from Oslob (southernmost point) through Badian (Kawasan) to Moalboal on the west coast. The total driving distance from Cebu City and back is around 320 km — entirely handled by your private van. The route passes through scenic mountain passes and coastal highways with occasional sea views.
South Cebu rewards those who make the effort. If you want to spread this over two days (more relaxed pace, overnight in Moalboal), see our Cebu travel guide for guesthouse recommendations and how to structure the trip independently.
