Guimaras Mango Festival Experience — July
About this tour
The Manggahan Festival is Guimaras Island's annual celebration of its most famous product — a week-long event held each May to mark the Carabao mango harvest season, declared a National Festival of the Philippines. What started as a simple farm gate market has grown into one of the Visayas' most anticipated provincial festivals, drawing mango buyers, food tourists, and cultural enthusiasts from across the country.
The festival's centrepiece is the grand parade through Jordan, the provincial capital, in which municipal floats decorated entirely with fresh and artificial mangoes — representing the island's barangays and partner organisations — process along the main road accompanied by marching bands, costumed performers, and mango-themed dance troupes. The standard of float decoration is genuinely impressive; some floats carry hundreds of kilograms of real fruit arranged into elaborate patterns.
The festival grounds operate a massive mango product fair where every form of Guimaras mango appears for tasting and purchase: fresh whole mangoes at farm-gate prices, dried mango in all grades (no sulphur varieties available here that aren't found in supermarkets), mango wine fermented on the island, mango vinegar, mango jam, mango pickle, and the legendary mango ice cream that draws pilgrimage-level devotion from Ilonggos. Cultural presentations by Guimaranon dance troupes and the crowning of the Mutya ng Guimaras (festival queen) complete the day. It is simultaneously a celebration of agriculture, Visayan culture, and the particular pride of a small island that grows the best mango in the world.
