About this tour

El Nido is arguably the most photographically rich environment in the Philippines — limestone karst, turquoise lagoons, traditional bangkas, and a human geography of fishing communities that provides endless visual depth. This 8-hour workshop is designed for photographers who want to leave El Nido with a portfolio of images worthy of publication, not just travel snapshots.

The day is led by a professional travel photographer with published work in National Geographic Traveller, Conde Nast Traveller Philippines, and GEO Magazine — someone who shoots El Nido regularly and knows where the light is, when it falls, and how to wait for it. The workshop covers: drone aerial photography (bring your own drone, CAAP permit arranged; or rent on site), with coaching on El Nido's best aerial perspectives and safe operating zones; seascape and long-exposure technique at sunrise from a location only accessible by boat; environmental portrait photography with fisherfolk communities (with permission, translated briefings); and Lightroom editing workflow for travel photography in a 90-minute afternoon session.

The workshop is limited to 4 participants — genuine coaching, not a group tour with a camera. Participants with any camera system (Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, iPhone) are welcome. The instructor adapts technique coaching to your equipment and current skill level.

About the area

Bacuit Bay's combination of towering limestone formations, gin-clear water, dramatic weather patterns, and traditional fishing culture creates a photographic environment comparable to Ha Long Bay in Vietnam but with significantly better light (tropical sun latitude, less haze), less crowding, and more authentic human geography.

Frequently asked questions

What camera do I need?
Any camera system works — Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji mirrorless or DSLR, or even a high-end smartphone. The instructor adapts coaching to your gear.
Do I need to bring a drone?
A drone is optional. The CAAP permit is included for drone users. If you do not have one, the operator has a DJI Mavic 3 available to rent (PHP 2,500 per day).
What is the skill level required?
Intermediate — you should know how to shoot in manual or aperture-priority mode and have basic understanding of exposure triangle. Complete beginners can join but will benefit less from the drone and long-exposure sessions.
Will the instructor share the images I take?
Your images are yours entirely. The instructor does not post or share participant images without explicit written permission.
