Coron Freediving Course & Reef Dive
About this tour
Freediving — exploring the underwater world on a single breath — is the purest form of ocean immersion, and Coron's calm, warm, clear water makes it the best place in the Philippines to learn. This full-day course starts with 2 hours of theory and pool (or shallow bay) practice under a certified AIDA instructor: breathing technique, equalisation, relaxation exercises, and the physics of breath-hold. By mid-morning, most students are reaching depths of 8-12 metres on a single breath.
The afternoon open-water session puts your new skills to use on a guided freedive over Coron's pristine reef and a shallow section of the Skeleton Wreck. Freediving alongside reef fish and through the wreck's open holds — silently, without the bubble noise of scuba — is an experience scuba diving simply cannot replicate. Turtles and barracuda that would retreat from scuba divers often stay calm and curious around freedivers.
Upon completing the course you receive an AIDA 2-Star Freediver certification, valid internationally and prerequisite for more advanced freediving courses worldwide. Maximum 4 students per instructor.
