Boracay Introductory Scuba Diving — Discover Scuba
About this tour
Boracay sits above one of the richest marine environments in the central Philippines. The waters off its east coast and northern tip harbour wall dives, coral gardens, shipwrecks, sea turtles, and vast schools of reef fish — all within 15 minutes by boat from the beach. You do not need a certification or any prior experience to access this world. The PADI Discover Scuba programme puts you underwater with a licensed divemaster who handles all the technical decisions while you simply breathe, float, and observe.
The session begins in the pool or in waist-deep water near the shore, where your divemaster teaches you five essential skills: mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, equalising your ears, and the hand signals used underwater. Once you have demonstrated these calmly and confidently, you move to the open water for two consecutive dives to a maximum depth of 12 metres. Common sightings at Boracay's beginner dive sites include giant clams, nudibranch sea slugs, lionfish, starfish, and — if timing is kind — a gliding sea turtle.
The dive centres operating this programme on Boracay are required by PADI to maintain strict equipment inspection and divemaster certification standards. All tanks are filled with clean compressed air, wetsuits and BCDs are well-maintained, and divemaster-to-student ratios are capped. Discover Scuba credits can be applied toward a full PADI Open Water certification if you decide to continue — many guests complete this intro dive and immediately enrol in the 3-day OW course.
