About this tour

Bulabog Beach on Boracay's windward east coast transforms every November into a paradise for kitesurfers. The consistent Amihan (northeast) trade winds blow 15–25 knots across a wide shallow lagoon — ideal conditions for beginners to safely learn without being blown out to sea. Bulabog is ranked among the top three kitesurfing destinations in Asia and hosts the annual Boracay International Funboard Cup, attracting professional riders from around the world.

Your lesson follows the internationally recognised IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation) progression framework. The first hour covers kite control on the beach — flying a trainer kite to understand the wind window, steering inputs, and power management. This is the foundation everything else builds on. Hour two moves into the water for body-dragging: using the kite to pull you through the water without a board, which builds muscle memory for the final stage. By hour three, most students are attempting their first board rides — getting pulled upright and sliding across the lagoon in short bursts. The feeling when it clicks is electrifying.

Kitesurfing is one of those sports where progress in the first lesson is dramatic and addictive. Most guests book follow-up lessons immediately. The school provides all equipment — twin-tip boards, full kite sets for your level, and a wetsuit rash-guard top. Bulabog's shallow water (knee to waist depth across most of the lagoon) ensures you can safely crash, reset, and try again without drama. The kite school café on the beach does excellent mango shakes.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best season to learn kitesurfing in Boracay?
The Amihan season (November–April) delivers consistent, reliable winds at Bulabog — this is the best time to learn. During the Habagat (May–October) winds shift to the southwest, and White Beach becomes the kiting area, though conditions are less consistent.
How many lessons do I need to kitesurf independently?
Most beginners need 6–12 hours of instruction to reach independent rider level. The first 3-hour lesson will show you how much you enjoy it and whether you want to commit to a full course.
What fitness level is required?
Good overall fitness helps but is not strictly required. The sport demands core strength and endurance. People of all body types learn to kitesurf — the key is patience and persistence in the early stages.
