Bantayan Island Day Trip from Cebu City
About this tour
Bantayan Island is Cebu's best-kept secret, and the island-hopping crowd has been slow to catch on — which means the beaches are still blissfully uncrowded by Visayas standards. The main beach, White Beach Santa Fe, is a kilometre of fine, blindingly white sand lapped by water so shallow and clear you can see every grain of the bottom from 200 metres out.
The day trip from Cebu City involves an early-morning drive north to the port of Hagnaya, a scenic 1-hour ferry ride to Santa Fe, and then a full day of your own choosing on the island — swim, snorkel, rent a motorbike to explore the interior, visit the centuries-old Bantayan Church, or simply collapse under a palm tree with a cold San Miguel. The pace here is deliberately slow, and that's entirely the point.
An optional island-hopping extension visits Virgin Island (also known as Paradise Island), a tiny white-sand atoll just offshore with superb snorkeling and a sandbar that disappears at high tide. Your guide manages all the logistics — transport, ferry tickets, local tips — so you can focus entirely on enjoying one of Cebu's most rewarding off-the-beaten-track days.

About the area
Bantayan Island sits off the northwest tip of Cebu, separated from the mainland by a narrow strait. Santa Fe is the main tourist hub with beach accommodation ranging from budget guesthouses to small boutique resorts. The island is known for its sweet dried fish (danggit) and its Sinulog-style Easter traditions.
Bantayan is easily done as a day trip but rewarding as an overnight. See our Cebu travel guide for how to do it independently without a tour, and for the best places to stay on the island.
