Sugar Beach Sipalay: Negros Occidental Undiscovered Paradise
There is a beach on the southwest coast of Negros Occidental that has been quietly stealing the hearts of travelers who find it for over two decades. Sugar Beach in Sipalay is a 2-kilometer stretch of fine white sand backed by lush jungle, fronted by calm turquoise water, and graced by a handful of small guesthouses whose owners have committed to keeping the place small, intimate, and magnificent.
Getting to Sugar Beach Sipalay
From Bacolod City: bus or van to Sipalay City (approximately 3-4 hours), then habal-habal motorcycle taxi or short boat ride to Sugar Beach itself (about 30-45 minutes). From Cebu City: ferry to Dumaguete, then 3-hour bus across the mountains to the Negros Occidental coast. The full journey from Bacolod takes approximately 5-6 hours.
What Sugar Beach Offers
Long stretches of fine sand where you can walk for 30 minutes without seeing another tourist, crystal-clear water safe for swimming and snorkeling directly from the beach, a coral reef accessible by swimming or kayak a few hundred meters offshore, and spectacular sunsets over the Sulu Sea.
