January and February are El Nido most popular months. The northeast monsoon Amihan delivers blue skies, calm seas, and near-perfect visibility for diving and island hopping. Weather: Why January and February Are the Best

Average temperature: 27-30 degrees Celsius. Rainfall: minimal (under 50mm per month). Wind: gentle northeast trades -- calm sea conditions, ideal for island hopping tours A B C D. Visibility underwater: 20-30 metres. Humidity: lower than the rest of the year. This is genuinely the best weather El Nido gets.

The Trade-off: Crowds and Prices

January and February see the highest visitor numbers. Hotels in El Nido town and Las Cabanas fill completely. Rates for mid-range accommodations run 30-50% higher than May-June rates. Island hopping tours fill before 9am -- book the afternoon before (or earlier). Some beaches on Tour A and Tour B have standing-room crowds by 10am. The answer: start early, book ahead, and consider upgrades over the standard shared tours.

Accommodation Strategy

Book 3-6 months ahead for peak season. El Nido town accommodations are convenient and cheaper but noisy. Las Cabanas beach accommodations are quieter and have a better sunset view. Tour C (Hidden Beach, Secret Beach, Matinloc Shrine, Helicopter Island). Tour D (Bukal Island, Marimegmeg Beach, Cathedral Cave). Book tours directly with your accommodation or with local operators at market price (PHP 1200-1500 per person shared, lunch included). Private tours: PHP 4000-7000 per day for a full bangka boat (6-8 people maximum).

Practical Tips: January-February El Nido

• Cash only in El Nido. ATMs exist but run out of cash regularly in peak season. Bring enough from Puerto Princesa or Manila.
• Land transport: Roughly 5 hours from Puerto Princesa by van or bus (PHP 250-400 per seat). The road is partially unpaved near El Nido but condition has improved significantly.
• Flights: AirSWIFT operates direct flights from Manila and Cebu to El Nido airport (SEP). Book months ahead. Price premium is significant but saves 5+ hours.
