Where to Stay on Camiguin Island: Best Guesthouses & Resorts
Camiguin is known as the island born of fire — a small teardrop-shaped island off the northern coast of Mindanao with seven volcanoes, more churches per square kilometre than any other island in the Philippines, and the extraordinary Sunken Cemetery, where a 19th-century village lies submerged beneath the sea after a volcanic eruption. The island is small enough to circumnavigate by motorbike in a day and varied enough to keep curious travellers occupied for a week.
Despite its remarkable attractions, Camiguin remains relatively under-visited — making it a genuine gem for travellers who seek authenticity over Instagram fame. Accommodation reflects the island's character: small family-run resorts, unpretentious guesthouses, and a handful of genuinely lovely boutique properties.
Best Areas to Stay on Camiguin
Mambajao (Capital Town)
Mambajao is where the ferry arrives and where most of the island's services are concentrated. A few guesthouses here are convenient for early ferry departures, but most travellers move on to the beach areas.

Yumbing & Agoho (White Sand Beach Area)
The stretch of coastline from Yumbing to Agoho on the northern coast has the best beaches on Camiguin — dark volcanic sand fringed with palm trees, and White Island visible offshore (a sandbar accessible by banca that appears and disappears with the tide). Most of Camiguin's best accommodation is concentrated here.
Best Resorts on Camiguin
Paras Beach Resort
Paras Beach Resort is one of Camiguin's most established and reliable properties — a beachfront resort in the Yumbing area with a pool, a dive centre, and well-maintained rooms. Air-conditioned rooms from 3,200 PHP per night including breakfast. The dive centre organises trips to the Sunken Cemetery, Ardent Hot Spring, and the coral gardens around White Island. Staff are particularly attentive and experienced at managing independent travellers.
Jasmine by the Sea
A charming boutique resort with a beachfront location and lovely garden setting. The rooms are decorated with local crafts and materials, giving the property a distinctly Filipino character. Rates from 2,800 PHP per night. The restaurant serves excellent seafood sourced from local fishers. A particular highlight is the outdoor shower overlooking the sea — one of those small details that elevates an ordinary stay into a memory.
Enigmata Treehouse
Enigmata is unlike anything else on Camiguin — an artistic eco-resort built almost entirely in the jungle canopy, with treehouses, bamboo platforms, and an artist's vision that turns the property into a living artwork. The accommodation is simple (hammocks and rustic rooms) but the experience is extraordinary. Rates from 1,500 PHP per night. Not for everyone — but for travellers who value experience over amenities, it is unforgettable.
Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin
A solid mid-range resort with a beachfront position and good facilities including a pool, a restaurant, and a dive centre. Rooms from 2,500 PHP per night. It is particularly popular with Filipino families for its facilities and the reliable boat service to White Island that the resort organises for guests.
Best Budget Guesthouses on Camiguin
Native Beach Resort
Simple bamboo cottages right on the beach from 1,200 PHP per night with fan. The location is excellent, the sea views are unobstructed, and the family that runs the property is warm and hospitable. No pool, no aircon in the basic rooms, but the beach is literally your front garden. Motorbike rental available from the property.
Kagay-anon Beach Resort
A clean, well-priced guesthouse with fan rooms from 900 PHP and air-conditioned rooms from 1,500 PHP. Located a short walk from the beach and within easy tricycle distance of Mambajao town. Popular with budget travellers who want a reliable base for exploring the island without committing to an expensive resort.
Must-See Attractions Near Your Hotel
Ardent Hot Spring is one of Camiguin's most popular attractions — natural volcanic hot springs beside a cool mountain stream where you can alternate between hot and cold pools. Entrance 50 PHP. Open day and night. The Sunken Cemetery is a snorkelling and diving site where white crosses mark the location of a village submerged during the 1871 eruption of Vulcan Daan. White Island sandbar appears as a pristine white crescent at low tide and disappears at high tide — a 10-minute banca ride from shore. Katibawasan Falls is a 70-metre waterfall in the island's interior, surrounded by jungle and cool enough to swim beneath.
